How Florida's medical cannabis process works.
The process has two separate parts: an evaluation with a qualified physician and an application for a state identification card.
Who may qualify?
A patient must be a permanent or seasonal Florida resident, have a qualifying medical condition, be entered into the Medical Marijuana Use Registry by a qualified physician, and obtain an active state identification card.

Florida also recognizes certain comparable conditions, terminal conditions, and qualifying chronic nonmalignant pain. A qualified physician must determine whether a patient meets the state's requirements and whether medical cannabis is an appropriate treatment.

Dr. Ryan will review your health history and available records, discuss your questions, and determine whether medical cannabis may be appropriate for you.
If you qualify, the visit also includes education about forms of medical cannabis, routes of administration, Florida's requirements, and the next steps in the state process.

Meet with a qualified physician
Dr. Ryan reviews your history and determines whether you meet Florida's requirements.
Enter the state registry
If you qualify, the practice enters you into Florida's Medical Marijuana Use Registry and places the appropriate physician order.
Apply for the state card
You complete the identification-card application through Florida's registry. The state's application and fee are separate from the office visit.
Use a licensed treatment center
After state approval, patients may fill an active physician order through a licensed Medical Marijuana Treatment Center. Atlantic Coast Cannabis MD does not sell cannabis.
The state card must be renewed every year.
Florida identification cards expire one year after approval. The state allows renewal applications during the 45 days before the expiration date. This state renewal is separate from follow-up care with Dr. Ryan.

Is Atlantic Coast Cannabis MD a dispensary?
No. This is a physician's office. Medical cannabis is purchased separately through a state-licensed Medical Marijuana Treatment Center.
Can seasonal residents qualify?
Florida's program includes permanent and seasonal residents who meet the state's requirements. Visit the OMMU website for the current residency documents.
Does the office approve my state card?
No. Dr. Ryan determines whether you qualify for a physician certification. The Florida Department of Health handles the identification-card application and approval.
Where do I find my registry account?
Florida sends registry login information to the email address provided by the physician's office. Check your inbox and spam folder, then use the official Medical Marijuana Use Registry.
